DESCRIPTION:NATIONAL TRADEMARK EXPO with CHILDREN’S WORKSHOPS\nThe United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) will host the 2014 National Trademark Expo from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday\, Oct. 17\, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday\, Oct. 18\, at the USPTO’s headquarters\, 600 Dulany St.\, Alexandria. The free\, family-friendly event is designed to educate the public about trademarks and their importance in the global marketplace. Numerous exhibitors\, including governmental agencies\, businesses and non-profits will showcase their trademarks. The Expo will also feature educational workshops for children and adults\, exhibits of authentic and counterfeit goods\, and costumed characters. At children’s workshops\, which will run once an hour\, participants will learn through PowerPoint presentations\, games and quizzes what a trademark is\, why trademarks matter and what “registering” a trademark means.
