Starting your baby on solids is being held on Friday, Nov. 4th at the Mount Vernon Rec. Center
In this class they discuss solid food readiness, introductory foods, allergies, food progression, and homemade versus purchased baby food. Whether you are overwhelmed with the information that’s out there or don’t know where to begin, you’ll walk away with the confidence to start your baby on the path of healthy eating. This class is for parents of 5-9 month olds.

The Rosemont Citizens Association and the Maury PTA are pleased to sponsor Halloween at Maury on Monday, October 31 from 6:00 – 7:00 pm in the Maury Elementary School cafeteria.
Enjoy pizza, apples, gogurt and drinks followed by a children’s costume parade around the cafeteria. It’s a great time for the whole family, and an easy way to feed the kids before heading out for trick-or-treating. The cost is $3.00 per person.
Chiller Nightmare on Madison Street is going to be the biggest community Halloween celebration! Come and “get your scare on”, while you walk through “The Haunted Alley” and “The Graveyard” on Madison Street. Pumpkin carving, face painting, scare crow-making and candy treats are all a part of the evening’s fun. Younger children who are not into “scariness” can watch a family-friendly movie while decorating cookies and cupcakes in the Charles Houston Recreation Center Multipurpose Room. Prizes for the best costume and the best painted pumpkin face. All of the evenings events are being co-sponsored by ARHA, Alexandria Recreation Department, ACPS, McDonalds, Sherwin Williams/Duron Paints, EYA Boston Capital and Target.
Let’s Make A Face Facepainting will be painting faces on Halloween from 2-6:30 at the Variety Store at Hollin Hall (in the Mount Vernon area of Alexandria).
